Quartz crystals, or "Bergkristall" (mountain crystal), have been a source of income in the Swiss Alps since Roman times and the "Swiss quartz movement" refers to a clock or watch made in Switzerland and uses quartz to power its movement. The ancients believed it was formed of petrified ice and "a stone of light" broken off from the celestial throne. Because of its abundance and beauty, nearly every ancient culture revered quartz, and it has been used by many peoples in shamanic and religious ceremonies. Greek priest Onomacritis, founder of the Hellenic mysteries, gave the following advice in the fifth century B.C. "Who so goes into the temple with this in his hand may be quite sure of having his prayer granted, as the gods cannot withstand its power." It has been used to contain spirits, summon both fire and rain, divine the future and as a protection from danger, a medium for clairvoyance, and a conduit to other realms.
QUARTZ is master healer teacher, resonating at the level of an individual's needs. Quartz also amplifies whatever energy or intent is programmed into it, and continues to broadcast that energy throughout the world and into the etheric realms. This may accelerate the fulfillment of one's prayers, intensify healing or spiritual growth, or simply allow the crystal to hold a pattern of energy long enough and strongly enough for the manifestation of a goal to occur. Quartz acts as a deep soul cleanser, purifying and enhancing the body's internal structure and surrounding subtle bodies to connect the physical dimension with the mind. It focuses on inner negativity and stimulates positive thoughts and feelings in its place. With a better perception of the world, Quartz increases awareness and clarity in thinking, and provides enhanced energy, perseverance and patience, teaching one to live, laugh and love with all of humanity. Quartz is excellent for amplifying the energies of other stones or to enhance groups of stones, and produces a force field of healing negative ions while clearing the surroundings of positive ions, protecting the aura. It dispels static electricity, and cancels out the harmful effects of radiation and radioactivity.

Caring for Your Jewellery
Scot & Saxon sources AAA and higher quality crystals and gemstones. All beads and pendants are handcrafted, therefore, there may be slight variations in craftsmanship or natural characteristics in the crystals that are unique and individual to each piece. These characteristics are considered part of the character of the item, and are not considered a defect. Scot & Saxon jewellery is delicate. Please do not allow your pieces to get wet, wear while exercising, or wear while sleeping. Protect your jewellery from scratches and tarnish by storing in the velvet bag. Polish your jewellery frequently with a soft cloth to maintain its original finish. Put your jewellery on last when dressing, and gently take off first when undressing. Protect your jewellery from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Avoid contact with water.
Sterling Silver is composed of .925 pure Silver and plated with a thin layer of pure Silver. Silver tarnishes with prolonged exposure to oxygen, which may quicken if the Silver is near salt water or products containing sulfur. While Sterling Silver beads are of an extremely high quality, they may fade if worn carelessly or scratched deeply.
24k Vermeil Gold
24k Vermeil Gold is plated over .925 Sterling Silver. Using a nickel-free process, the Silver is plated with 1 micron of 18K Gold for strength, and then followed by 2 microns of 24k Gold. Vermeil Gold may show signs of tarnish if left in the open air. While Vermeil Gold beads are of an extremely high quality, they may fade if worn carelessly or scratched deeply.
When Crystal Jewellery or a Mala Breaks
Owning crystal jewellery or a mala is a lesson in and of its own, of learning to let go and release in order to grow. Scot & Saxon jewellery is intended to be worn on a regular basis, which is another reason why care must be taken to ensure they remain in excellent condition long term. A broken crystal jewellery piece or mala symbolizes a broken cycle in your life. It means you have learned an important lesson or cleared a karmic cycle. You don't 'need' that particular crystal, which resonated with you when you needed it, anymore. A broken crystal jewellery piece or mala is a sign that it's time to bring new intentions into your life as you have outgrown the current one. It is said when crystal jewellery or mala breaks you are not supposed to fix it. Instead, you collect the beads and pieces and place them in a place that is special for you; the crystals still work, so keep them nearby for their energetic benefits. You are now ready for the next step, with new lessons and more karma to clear to continue your personal growth, and it is time to connect with and choose a new crystal. This being said, it is understandable that you may feel compelled to preserve your investment. You may request a re-stringing for $50 if you would like your piece restored.
