Amethyst is the national gemstone of England and has been found in graves across the country. Medieval soldiers wore talismans of Amethyst for protection in battle, believing that the stone had healing powers and would keep them cool-headed, protect them from harm, and give victory over their enemies. It has also been reported that Catholic bishops wore rings made of Amethyst to help protect them from divine intoxication, and that when others kissed those rings, it protected them from the same intoxication and helped keep the individuals grounded in pious spiritual thoughts. Amethyst was also reputed to control evil thoughts, increase intelligence and render men shrewd in business matters. For travelers it was worn as a protection from treachery and surprise attacks. Hunters believed it assisted in the capture of wild beasts and fowl and was considered to be a powerful psychic stone of protection against witchcraft and black magic. Like other royal stones it protected its wearer from disease and contagion. The Rosicrucian society, who combined pagan with Christian types and figures, saw Amethyst and its color as a symbol of the divine male sacrifice, since the stone and color were typical of love, truth, passion, suffering, and hope. The love of Christ led him to make the ultimate sacrifice and suffer the agony of the cross, and the crucifixion was followed by the resurrection; thus came the hope of mankind to enjoy eternal happiness in heaven.
AMETHYST is a stone of spiritual protection and purification, cleansing one’s energy field of negative influences and attachments, and creating a resonant shield of spiritual Light around the body. It acts as a barrier against lower energies, psychic attack, geopathic stress and unhealthy environments. It is a valuable protection for those doing psychic or intuitive work and enhances personal environments with a healing and protective circle of Light. Called the “All-healer,” Amethyst is one of the most effective crystals for healing people, plants and animals.
Amethyst protects against psychic attack, paranormal harm or ill-wishing, and returns the energy back to the universe after being transformed into positive, loving energy. Amethyst is an excellent stone for diplomats, negotiators and business people. It calms angry temperaments and gives a distinct advantage in situations where debating is required. Wear or hold Amethyst to bring in spiritual insights coupled with intellectual reasoning. As a luck and prosperity crystal, Amethyst is good for reducing the tendency to overspend, gambling addictions or unwise investments.
Amethyst is especially supportive of the emotional body, bringing those who are overworked, overstressed, or overwhelmed back to center. It eases the mental anxieties that lead to physical tension and headaches and is a great crystal to calm those who tend to be hot-headed and easily angered. Amethyst helps in identifying the root causes behind one’s negative behaviors, habits and emotional patterns that create imbalance and disease. It also helps one understand the reality of cause and effect in behavior and assists in better decision making.
Because Amethyst initiates wisdom and greater understanding, it is a comforting crystal for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Its presence communicates that there is no death, only transitioning and changing of forms. It encourages the release of sorrow and rejoicing in a loved one’s spirit being freed from the confinement of the physical body. Called “the soul stone,” Amethyst assists in understanding and connecting to the eternal existence of the soul and initiates one’s own deep soul experiences. It is an ideal crystal to hold or meditate upon during the death experience, of another or oneself, allowing the release of the temporal physical body with more ease, assuredness and peace. It is a perfect stone to gift to those with terminal illnesses or to use in preparation for a conscious death experience.

Caring for Your Jewellery
Scot & Saxon sources AAA and higher quality crystals and gemstones. All beads and pendants are handcrafted, therefore, there may be slight variations in craftsmanship or natural characteristics in the crystals that are unique and individual to each piece. These characteristics are considered part of the character of the item, and are not considered a defect. Scot & Saxon jewellery is delicate. Please do not allow your pieces to get wet, wear while exercising, or wear while sleeping. Protect your jewellery from scratches and tarnish by storing in the velvet bag. Polish your jewellery frequently with a soft cloth to maintain its original finish. Put your jewellery on last when dressing, and gently take off first when undressing. Protect your jewellery from impact against hard surfaces and avoid contact with abrasive surfaces. Avoid contact with water.
Sterling Silver is composed of .925 pure Silver and plated with a thin layer of pure Silver. Silver tarnishes with prolonged exposure to oxygen, which may quicken if the Silver is near salt water or products containing sulfur. While Sterling Silver beads are of an extremely high quality, they may fade if worn carelessly or scratched deeply.
24k Vermeil Gold
24k Vermeil Gold is plated over .925 Sterling Silver. Using a nickel-free process, the Silver is plated with 1 micron of 18K Gold for strength, and then followed by 2 microns of 24k Gold. Vermeil Gold may show signs of tarnish if left in the open air. While Vermeil Gold beads are of an extremely high quality, they may fade if worn carelessly or scratched deeply.
When Crystal Jewellery Breaks
Owning crystal jewellery or a mala is a lesson in and of its own, of learning to let go and release in order to grow. Scot & Saxon jewellery is intended to be worn on a regular basis, which is another reason why care must be taken to ensure they remain in excellent condition long term. A broken crystal jewellery piece or mala symbolizes a broken cycle in your life. It means you have learned an important lesson or cleared a karmic cycle. You don't 'need' that particular crystal, which resonated with you when you needed it, anymore. A broken crystal jewellery piece or mala is a sign that it's time to bring new intentions into your life as you have outgrown the current one. It is said when crystal jewellery or mala breaks you are not supposed to fix it. Instead, you collect the beads and pieces and place them in a place that is special for you; the crystals still work, so keep them nearby for their energetic benefits. You are now ready for the next step, with new lessons and more karma to clear to continue your personal growth, and it is time to connect with and choose a new crystal. This being said, it is understandable that you may feel compelled to preserve your investment. You may request a re-stringing for $50 if you would like your piece restored.
