France | Pearls Bracelet
The national 'gemstone' of France is the pearl. When a pearl is born, it is the result of irritation to the soft body of a mollusk. The sea animal, trying to soothe the stuck sand or speck, nourishes the irritation with a layer of nacre, followed by another and another until the pearl is formed. This is why pearls are considered to be gems of nurturing and nourishment, as their origin is a result of self-nurturing. One of the earliest religious accounts of the pearl claims that Adam and Eve wept after they were cast out of Paradise, creating a lake of pearls. The white pearls were believed to be from Eve's tears, and the black pearls Adam's. It is further said that men are better able to control their emotions, and so Adam shed fewer tears than Eve, which explains the rarity of the black pearl. Christians adopted the pearl as a symbol of purity and the tradition of a bride wearing pearls on her wedding day continues to this day. By the Middle Ages, pearls were considered sacred Christian objects due to their association with religious purity. Early Christians said the pearls covering the Holy Grail made its water pure. In ancient Rome, pearls were considered the ultimate symbol of wealth and social standing. The Greeks held the pearl in high esteem for both its unrivaled beauty and its association with love and marriage. During the Dark Ages, while fair maidens of nobility cherished delicate pearl necklaces, gallant knights often wore pearls into battle. They believed the magic of these lustrous gems would protect them from harm. The Renaissance saw the royal courts of Europe awash in pearls. Because pearls were so highly regarded, a number of European countries actually passed laws forbidding anyone but the nobility to wear them.

When Crystal Jewellery Breaks
Owning crystal jewellery or a mala is a lesson in and of its own, of learning to let go and release in order to grow. Scot & Saxon jewellery is intended to be worn on a regular basis, which is another reason why care must be taken to ensure they remain in excellent condition long term. A broken crystal jewellery piece or mala symbolizes a broken cycle in your life. It means you have learned an important lesson or cleared a karmic cycle. You don't 'need' that particular crystal, which resonated with you when you needed it, anymore. A broken crystal jewellery piece or mala is a sign that it's time to bring new intentions into your life as you have outgrown the current one. It is said when crystal jewellery or mala breaks you are not supposed to fix it. Instead, you collect the beads and pieces and place them in a place that is special for you; the crystals still work, so keep them nearby for their energetic benefits. You are now ready for the next step, with new lessons and more karma to clear to continue your personal growth, and it is time to connect with and choose a new crystal. This being said, it is understandable that you may feel compelled to preserve your investment. You may request a re-stringing for $50 if you would like your piece restored.
